Butt Chugging

Butt Chugging

Hi parents!  Guess what? There’s just one more thing you have to be worried about, it’s called butt chugging.  Butt—what? Yeah, that’s what we said when we first heard about this. The newest fad is butt chugging or vodka tampons. Butt chugging is also knowing as “boofing,” and “slimming.” Butt chugging is similar to a beer bong, except that the consumption of the beer is rectally as opposed to orally. A funnel is connected to a tube which is inserted into the rectum. The beer is taken much like an enema. Thus we have butt chugging. The main purpose of butt chugging as opposed to drinking beer is that the alcohol taken rectally has much greater effect than the alcohol taken orally. With all the ridiculous and dangerous things kids are getting into now-a-days, this has got to be one of the most disturbing ones.

The alleged story of how butt chugging started went kind of like this; an alcoholic man that had just had surgery on his throat was dying for a drink. After the alcoholic begged his wife enough she went into the bathroom and filled the end of an enema bag while the man stood in the shower and had is enema of Sherry put straight into his butt. The man laid down, severely drunk and never woke up again. Getting really drunk quickly has its pluses but it also has its dangers.

Through butt chugging alcohol gets absorbed directly into the bloodstream when taken rectally by bypassing the stomach and the acid in the stomach. One major disadvantage of butt chugging is that that when you become intoxicated your body has no way of fighting back. Normally, when you’ve ingested too much alcohol, your body in an attempt to heal itself will cause you to vomit. When you butt chug, your body doesn’t do that. We all can easily see the danger in this. If you can’t vomit when you drink too much the chances of alcohol poisoning become much greater leading to more alcohol related deaths. Alcohol poisoning through butt chugging can lead to death very quickly and is dangerous for your brain, heart and liver.

One of the biggest misconceptions of butt chugging is that you will be able to pass a breathalyzer because there is technically not any alcohol consumed in your mouth. This is not true and you will not pass a breathalyzer because the test monitors alcohol in your blood stream not your mouth. DO NOT DRIVE DRUNK REGARDLESS IF YOU THINK YOU’LL PASS A BREATHALYZER OR NOT. YOU RUN THE RISK OF KILLING YOURSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE.

The other big misconception about butt chugging is that it is safer than its sister method “vodka tampons”. Not true, both are extremely dangerous and unhealthy and run a high risk of alcohol poisoning. Another reason some teenagers are trying butt chugging is because there is no risk of throwing up and while that is true and as we mentioned above; very dangerous, you can become severely inebriated from butt chugging to the point that you lose control of your bowel movements and end up making a mess of yourself. Oh and there’s also the very possible chance you can die from many complications of alcohol poisoning, dehydration, etc.

This new fad is one that that is disgusting and also dangerous, butt chugging is not the way to go. If you are looking to get drunk just stick with the old fashioned way. Not only is it just a little bit safer, but it is also less disturbing.

Legal Ways to Get High

Legal Ways to Get High

Legal Ways to Get High

It’s become increasingly common, in recent years, for young people to search for legal ways to get high. Manufacturers of synthetic, “legal” drugs like spice and bath salts are raking in the cash by responding to that demand, and law enforcement officials are struggling to respond to the flood of legal drugs on the market.  The problem is that these so-called legal drugs can be highly dangerous, and young people around the country are being hospitalized for bad reactions to these “legal” highs.

Here are the some of the most popular legal ways to get high:

 1. Synthetic Marijuana– Legal pot is also known as Spice, K2, Genie Silver and Yucatan Fire. It is sold as “incense” and labeled “not for human consumption.” These herbal mixtures are infused with chemicals that activate the same receptors as marijuana. The side effects, however, are much more drastic. Smoking legal pot can produce a strong high as well as psychosis, rapid heartbeat, seizures, and even death. The American Association of Poison Control has observed over a 50% increase in calls related to legal pot this year compared to last.

2. Bath Salts – Bath salts are sold legally online and in drug paraphernalia stores under a variety of names, such as “Ivory Wave,” “Purple Wave,” “Red Dove,” “Blue Silk,” “Zoom,” “Bloom,” “Cloud Nine,” “Ocean Snow,” “Lunar Wave,” “Vanilla Sky,” “White Lightning,” “Scarface,” and “Hurricane Charlie.” Because formulations of bath salts change so often in an attempt to keep ahead of laws prohibiting their manufacture, very little is known about the chemical makeup of the drug. What we do know is that bath salts contain synthetic stimulant drugs of the amphetamine and cathinone classes, such as methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MPDV), mephedrone and pyrovalerone.   Many bath salt users compare their effects to methamphetamine. These drugs are typically administered orally, by insufflation, by inhalation, or by injection, with the worst outcomes apparently associated with snorting or intravenous administration.

Law enforcement officials are alarmed at the effects of these drugs, which have been known to cause paranoia and intense hallucinations. Emergency room personnel report that patients who have ingested bath salts are so highly agitated and violent that they sometimes require a whole medical team to restrain them. Sometimes even powerful sedatives are not sufficient in calming these people down. Bath started turning up regularly in the United States last year and have proliferated in recent months, alarming doctors, who say they have unusually dangerous and long-lasting effects.

3. Cough Medication: Cough formulations containing the drug dextromethorphane (DXM) are also used as a legal way to get high. DXM containing formulations are usually known on the street as “triple C’s” (as the medication is used to treat cold, cough, and congestion) and use of DXM is sometimes called “robo-tripping” (as the DXM containing medication Robotussin is commonly used). At high levels, DXM acts as a dissociative hallucinogenic. Some users say the effect is similar to those produced by ketamine and PCP. It can produce visual hallucinations, dissociations, excitement, and a loss of sense of time. DXM can also cause nausea, vomiting, and difficulty breathing.

Mercy Soda

Mercy Soda
Mercy Soda

Mercy soda gained popularity when Gwyneth Paltrow told news reporters that she swears by it. Mercy soda is marketed as a hangover prevention product, not a hangover remedy. Although some people claim it can help lessen the hangover the next day. Mercy soda has a light, natural citrus flavor. The makers of mercy soda also say you can drink this “miracle” beverage at the end of the night instead of or along with water.

The best time to drink mercy soda in order to receive maximum benefits is while or shortly after drinking.  Makers of Mercy Soda even suggest that you mix it with your alcohol to make a cocktail. Mercy Soda is said to flush your system of acetaldehyde, the chemical that causes a hangover. It contains amino acids, antioxidants and vitamins. The makers of mercy soda recommend one can of mercy soda for every five alcoholic beverages. Drinking mercy soda after a long night of drinking helps prevent hangovers, detoxifies the body, boosts its defenses, alleviates alcohol flush and replenishes key nutrients. Mercy soda works by restoring nutrients and eliminating toxins, like acetaldehyde as mentioned earlier; alcohol’s unhealthy by-product, so hangover symptoms like headaches and nausea do not have a chance to set in.

A hangover is a chemical process. Just having one glass of wine or one shot of tequila creates the production in your body of a toxin called acetaldehyde – which is considered 30 times more dangerous than the actual alcohol itself. This is where mercy soda’s acclaimed hangover cure comes in. Mercy soda has a mixture of amino acids, antioxidants and vitamins to help boost your body’s natural defenses and rid your body of acetaldehyde. Mercy soda is filled with amino acids, vitamins, antioxidants, electrolytes and herbal supplements that work together to help effectively eliminate toxins produced in the body when alcohol is consumed. That means mercy soda helps with experiencing hangover symptoms or even alcohol flush.

The ingredients in each can of mercy soda claim to help your body detox, boosting your body’s defenses and replenishing key nutrients lost during a night of drinking. Drinking mercy soda, during or shortly after alcohol consumption, encourages your body to produce more glutathione, a naturally occurring substance that neutralizes dangerous free radicals and helps the liver remove toxins such as acetaldehyde, the more dangerous result of drinking alcohol and the main cause of hangovers and alcohol flush. According to mercy soda you will also sleep better. Poor sleep and fatigue after a night of drinking is often due to the loss of the amino acid glutamine, depleted by alcohol. Your body works hard to produce more of it throughout the night, which causes you to wake up in the process. Mercy soda helps you retain glutamine, so you can sleep soundly and sleeping soundly exponentially helps with hangovers.

Mercy soda is gaining widespread popularity because it is said to be most effective in the prevention of hangovers along with the health benefits of drinking it regardless of the hangover prevention effects.

Top 5 Party Schools

Top 5 Party Schools

Top 5 Party Schools

Top 5 Party Schools

By Jenny Hunt

Why do people go to college? To learn, right? To get an education, a leg up in the business world, and to earn a degree, yes? Well, it’s no secret that kids also go to college to party and socialize. Every year, the Princeton Review releases its top 20 party school list, and students around the country log on to see who made the cut.

So what constitutes a “party school”? It’s a college or university with a reputation of heavy drug and alcohol use. Usually, the data is culled from drug and alcohol law violation statistics, along with stats relating to drug and alcohol prevalence on campus as well as night life and Greek life information.

For better or for worse, the “party mentality” has become part of the modern college culture. The list has come under fire for promoting dangerous behavior. Administrators, professors, and some students at the top party schools have tried to distance themselves from the list. Others criticize the list for being unscientific and not using a big enough sample size to draw conclusions. Whatever the reaction, we thought we’d explore the top 5 party schools on the Princeton Review’s list to see why they made the cut.

5. University of California-Santa Barbara: As far as location goes, number 5 on our list of top 5 party schools in the US may be the best. UCSB is located on cliffs directly above the Pacific Ocean. It is also just a happy place to be. UCSB ranked 11th on the Happiest Students list.

4. University of Iowa- Iowa City: University of Iowa has a massive Greek life. Much of the student night-life in Iowa City revolves around the pedestrian mall which contains tons of restaurants, local shops, and over thirty bars. Sports are also a huge happening on the U of I college campus. They are number 14 on the Students Pack the Stadium List

3. University of Mississippi: Ole Miss is more than just a top 5 party school. It seems that Ole Miss tops several lists. Ole Miss is number three on the Major Fraternity and Sorority Scene list. In fact, the first fraternity founded in the south was on this campus.  Sports are HUGE on the Ole Miss campus. They are number 7 on the Students Pack the Stadium List. In addition, Ole Miss was the site of the world’s first human lung transplant and has a long list of famous alumni including William Falkner, John Grisham, and United States Senators Trent Lott, Roger Wicker and Thad Cochran.

2. University of Georgia- Athens: While University of Georgia held the number one spot on the list of top party schools just last year, in 2012 they lost the top ranking. But University of Georgia is still a great place to party! The thing that sets University of Georgia apart from the rest is its ranking on the campus food list; they are the only school on the top 5 party schools list that can tout some of the best campus food in the country. Greek life and college athletics are also a big part of campus life at the University of Georgia, and they have some of the most state of the art athletic facilities in the country!

1. University of Ohio-Athens: While it always ranks high in lists of party schools, this year the University of Ohio took the top spot on the list of top 5 party schools. They have an amazing athletic department, one of the most beautiful campuses in the country, and a very active fraternity and sorority life.

‘Play Safe’ Documentary Shows How to Prevent Overdose and Hangovers

Play Safe

Play Safe

“People were harmed during the making of this film, but without that sacrifice we’d have nothing” – Eddie Einbinder, Play Safe –

In the public school system, sex education is taught to teach children about the human reproductive system. In sex Ed we’re taught what sex is and how to practice it safely. What if we had to take a “Drug Ed” course in which we were shown what drugs were and how to practice using them safely? Wouldn’t that be a bit extreme? Not according to Eddie Einbinder.

Drug abuse in American is not a new concept and has fluctuated with the state of the economy. Every couple of years we start to battle a new drug, like cocaine and crack in the 80’s and prescription drug abuse in 2012. With every threat against humanity we must prepare solutions in prevention, education and treatment. Drug abuse is no different, but the methods used to prevent, educate and treat it are always a hot subject of debate.

Eddie Einbinder of New York is a crusader of sorts on harm reduction in drug use. After some of his college friends overdosed on various substances he decided to do something to bring awareness to drug use. Mr. Einbinder believes that people who want to try drugs are going to do it no matter what so why not educate everyone on the good, the bad, the ugly and how to use and prevent overdosing or a mean hangover. Is this, “how to use drugs safely” motto the way to go about spreading knowledge of drug abuse? Scare tactics have been used for many years to warn people of the dangers of drug abuse but those who’ve already become addicted do not “fear” the consequences. In the face of total loss of family, friends, work, social life, and health addicts will continue to use. So now we’re all left to wonder if this new way of awareness could work. What do you think?

Although Play Safe doesn’t seem to be out on the Internet for everyone to see, the trailer itself offers a snippet of what the viewer can expect to see.  According to the end of the trailer, Play Safe will feature people using the following drugs: Mushrooms, Ketamine, Marijuana, Nitrous, Cocaine, LSD, MDMA, Salvia, Heroin, Oxycontin, Tobacco, Meth, DMT, Adderall, and Alcohol.

Drinking Alcohol Has It’s Benefits

Benefits of Drinking Alcohol
Benefits of Drinking Alcohol

Drink alcohol, it’s good for you! In moderation, that is. Drinking alcohol in moderation could have its benefits, depending on your age and sex.

Over the last five years, the health benefits of moderate drinking have been widely seen in the headlines. To those who think everything enjoyable must be bad for you, this news comes as a green light to go ahead and drink up. Of course, there are many stipulations – and these studies don’t indicate that people who are sober should take up drinking or that infrequent drinkers should start drinking more. The important word here is drinking in moderation.

Do we know why moderate drinking lowers heart disease risk? A lot of the benefits of alcohol are on the blood vessels and on blockages in the arteries to the heart and to the brain. This might be related to alcohol’s effect on the good cholesterol, the HDL cholesterol. In fact, alcohol affects HDL levels just about as strongly as any other lifestyle factor. People also think that alcohol may lower heart attack risk by acting as a blood thinner.
What are some of the other health benefits associated with moderate drinking? A wide variety of health effects have been attributed to moderate drinking. A lower risk of diabetes has been seen in women and men.

Studies show, for example, that health benefits only come with moderate drinking and are greatest for older men. And even moderate drinking is not recommended for women who are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant, or for people who are under 21. The strongest medical evidence exists for the link between moderate drinking and a reduced risk of heart disease.

Dr. Kenneth Mukamal, an intern at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and assistant professor at Harvard Medical School in Boston, was the lead author of a New England Journal of Medicine study examining the roles of drinking patterns and heart disease that found, after 12 years of follow-up, men who consumed alcohol between three and seven days a week had fewer heart attacks than men who drank once a week.

There actually have been experiments done in which alcohol was administered over a couple of months to people without diabetes. In those studies, most of which have been conducted in women, it looks like moderate drinking improves the body’s sensitivity to insulin. It may actually lower insulin levels altogether and may prevent diabetes through that mechanism. More recently there has been some work on moderate drinking and dementia. When looking at a group of older adults in the United States with an average age in the mid-70s – they found a reduced risk. There has been some more work in slightly younger populations from Europe, and those studies have fairly consistently suggested that older adults who were drinking moderately may have a lower risk of dementia. Although they are not exactly sure what the mechanisms may be behind that.

Some of it may very well be because drinking tends to occur in social settings and just the process of getting out and socializing may be an important way to prevent dementia. There is also evidence that moderate drinking may prevent silent strokes or other subtle types of brain injury that can, over time predispose someone to dementia. This is definitely an area that still needs to be investigated further.

Hangover Home Remedies

Hangover Home Remedies
Hangover Home Remedies

There are many ways to prevent a hangover. The number one way to prevent a hangover is not drinking so much or spreading out your drinks over a longer period of time. Drinking water also helps, as does drinking on a full stomach. But sometimes, despite our best efforts (or any effort), a night of partying can end in a pounding headache, upset stomach, and dizziness.

The best cure for a hangover is time, but if you don’t want to suffer, here are some hangover home remedies that can help:

1.) Bananas: One of the best hangover home remedies is bananas. They are full of potassium, which is something your body needs after a night of drinking. It’s also good to get something in your stomach when you have a hangover, to help with sour stomach.

2.) Ginger ale: Ginger is a great hangover home remedy because it treats nausea. The carbonation in ginger ale will also help settle your stomach.

3.) Peppermint or chamomile tea: These teas are natural antacids so they make good hangover home remedies. For extra relief, use honey instead of sugar to sweeten the tea. Honey contains fructose, which competes with the metabolism of alcohol. This helps a hangover, because the quick metabolism of alcohol is what causes many hangover symptoms.

4.) Water, Juice, or Sports Drinks: Many hangover symptoms are caused by dehydration. You’re body loses a lot of fluids and other nutrients during a night of drinking. Drinking a lot of water, juice, or other sports drinks can help you replenish some of what you lost. Steer clear of acidic juices, like orange, as acidic juices can sometimes exacerbate a sour stomach. Sports drinks can help replenish electrolytes, as well as hydrating your body.

5.) Toast or Rice: Toast and rice are classic hangover home remedies. Food is often the last thing you want to consider when recovering from a wicked hangover, but having something on your stomach can help settle it and give you more energy. Rice and toast are simple and easy to ingest.

6.) Ice: Putting an icepack on your aching head can help with a wicked hangover. If you don’t have an icepack, a package of frozen vegetables works too. Or just rinse a washcloth in cold water and apply it to your forehead.

7.) Multivitamin: When you drink, you lose a lot of key nutrients, including B vitamins. Sometimes taking a multivitamin can help shorten the hangover.

8.) Pepto-Bismol: Pepto-Bismol is a great hangover home remedy because it can help with so many different stomach ailments that can be caused by excess drinking including: sour stomach, nausea, and diarrhea.

9.) Sleep: Sleep, aside from hydrating yourself, is a must in hangover home remedies. Rest is your best friend when you have a hangover. It gives your body a chance to recover and to regain energy. If you can, take a couple hours out of the day to nap when you have a hangover, or be sure to get to bed extra early the next night.

10.) Raw cabbage: Last, but not least on our list of hangover home remedies is raw cabbage. If you can stomach it, chewing on a piece of raw cabbage can cure a pounding headache.

Common Hangover Cures

Hangover - Common Hangover Cures

There are so many hangover cures out there today that you may be wondering how do I curb the consequences of my drinking the night before? Well hang on because there is relief and it comes in much more common places and accessible ways than you might have thought. That hangover you’re dealing with right now could have been avoided or relieved hours ago. Here are some common hangover cures to help with those “morning after” blues.

Drink plenty of water. Alcohol dehydrates your body of fluids, so the more water you drink, the more fluids you replace and the better you will feel. While nursing a bottle of water the next morning will certainly help your hangover, this method is best used preventatively. Down a tall glass of water (or several) before falling asleep and wake up feeling at least a bit better. A prevention tip for hangovers instead of a common hangover cure is to alternate between alcoholic beverages and a glass of water during your night out.

Drink more alcohol?
Drinking more alcohol the morning after your escapades and drinking ambitions the night before is common hangover cure, but it is also a quick way to continue with your buzz. A hangover begins when your blood alcohol content levels begin to drop, causing dehydration and all the side effects that we know as a sign of a “little too much fun”. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger though, drink up the booze!  While you may not stomach another round of tequila shots, chances are a Bloody Mary won’t sound bad. It won’t sound bad at all.

More fluids means Gatorade. While you probably aren’t going to expect to be playing in the nearest soccer match after your last bout of drinking or even going for your normal morning run; one of the most common hangover cures is this sports drink. Gatorade is packed with electrolytes which help your body rehydrate. Drinking Gatorade may be an even better option than your other best friend, water, right now because of the vitamins and electrolytes in it which help your body to retain the hydration it so desperately needs right now.

Waffle House Anyone? Have you ever found yourself craving your late night local diner’s breakfast after a serious night of drinking? This is because greasy foods are a common hangover cure. If you have ever woken up and stared at yourself in the mirror and thought “Man, wouldn’t Waffle House be great?” we say go for it!! Research may not support the idea of piling on carbs and fats on top of all that liquor from the night before, but one’s stomach most definitely does. What’s the best greasy food used as a common hangover cure? Why, bacon of course!

Running. Remember how we said you may not feel like going for your morning run or even playing in that soccer match when we told you to drink Gatorade? Well one of the most common hangover cures is to literally “sweat it out” and go for a run. So if you got the Gatorade then maybe your best option is to take to the streets if you are suffering from a serious hangover. Running creates a good, healthy release of endorphins, combined with fresh air, and it could also boost your mood and help your body rid itself of the toxins you shot, and we mean literally shot, into it the night before.

These are some common hangover cures you may have heard of or not. Other than these four the number one most common hangover cure is sleep. Sleep is your new best friend. If you have the time for it, get it, if you don’t you may be well to try one of these other four common hangover cures and then get it when you can.

You may be wondering why you don’t see the little miracle pills, acetaminophen or aspirin on our list, that is because they may end up harming you more than they will help you. Acetaminophen has been known to cause liver damage, which you may already have enough of if you’re trying to cure a hangover. And as for aspirin? Well it could potentially increase the chance of bleeding in your stomach and gastrointestinal tract which has gone through quite enough with you in the last 12 to 24 hours.

We hope this helps and we offer no guarantees that these will work perfectly. We do leave you with this though, if you are going to drink try to do so in a way that keeps you from searching for the most common hangover cures on the Internet the next morning.

Hand Sanitizer Alcohol Abuse

Hand Sanitizer Alcohol Abuse

By Jenny Hunt

California authorities have noticed a shocking new trend in teenagers looking to get a quick high: Hand Sanitizer Alcohol Abuse. In the last week, at least six teens have checked in to LA area hospitals after allegedly imbibing hand sanitizer to get drunk. Hand sanitizer alcohol abuse has become the newest way for teens to get wasted.

Hand sanitizer alcohol abuse has gained popularity because it’s easily obtained by underage drinkers, is relatively cheap, and has very high alcohol content. The high alcohol content is part of the danger of hand sanitizer alcohol abuse. Hand sanitizers have alcohol concentrations of up to 70 percent—that’s 140 proof, whereas most liquors-whiskey, vodka, and gin, have a concentration of 45 percent alcohol (80 proof.) Often, teens engaging in hand sanitizer alcohol abuse down shots of the gooey liquid without realizing how much stronger it is. By the time the alcohol is metabolized, they have drunk far more than they realized. The accessability of the Internet has propelled hand sanitizer alcohol abuse as teens are finding recipes online to help make hand sanitizer more palatable. Some teens are mixing the gel with salt to break it down to a liquid.

Hand sanitizer alcohol abuse is just the latest development in bizarre teen drug use which includes vodka tampons and semi-legal synthetic drugs such as synthetic cannabis (“spice” or “K2) and bath salts. Both the risky behavior of teens and the danger of such drug use could be traced back to adolescent brain development. A recent study determined that brain development is not fully complete until age 25. Before the brain fully develops, it lacks the connections that allow reasoned decision making. This is why teens have poor impulse control and are somewhat lacking in common sense.

The fact that a teen’s brain and body has not fully developed makes hand sanitizer alcohol abuse and other forms of underage drinking more dangerous. Underage drinking can affect the brain’s development. Subtle changes in the brain may be difficult to detect but still have a significant impact on long-term thinking and memory skills. Underage drinking can also cause liver damage, especially if the teen is overweight or obese. In addition, drinking alcohol prior to or during puberty may upset the critical hormonal balance necessary for normal development of organs, muscles, and bones.

Some parents and school officials have made an effort to limit the availability of alcohol based hand sanitizer in homes and schools. However, hand sanitizer alcohol abuse isn’t that different from other types of teen substance abuse and the best way to combat it is with an open discussion. Unfortunately, more than a quarter of parents with teenage children have never had a discussion with them about alcohol or drug use. Parents are urged to be clear, firm and consistent when discouraging their teen from underage drinking and engaging in these risky new “legal” ways to get high. drug. Parents should also assure their teen that they will not be alone in turning down drugs and alcohol. In fact, teen alcohol abuse is on the decline nationally. Talking with your children early and often about hand sanitizer alcohol abuse can make a difference. It’s best to instill an open door policy about drugs and alcohol with your children.

Hangover Bus

Have you ever woken up on your hotel room floor with a pounding headache and no memory of how you got there? Partied too hard on the first night of vacation and were too hung-over to go out again the next night? If you’re in Vegas, you’re in luck!

The newest Las Vegas tourist attraction promises a quick cure for a hangover, and the cure comes to you! A bus called Hangover Heaven is picking up clients up and down the Vegas strip and treating them for hangovers. For a fee, medical professionals will get you back on your feet after a night of hard partying. The retrofitted bus comes equipped with IV fluids, flat screen TV’s, mirrored ceilings, and nurses in…well…suggestive nurse outfits.

The hangover bus is the brainchild of board certified anesthesiologist Dr. Jason Burke. He insists that the hangover bus does not promote drinking; it merely brings some relief to tourists who overdo it in Sin City. He calls the new business a medical practice on wheels, like a mobile walk-in clinic that only treats one very specific ailment.

If you need the hangover bus, you simply give them a call, and they will pick you up within the hour. Once on the bus, the treatment takes less than an hour. For a $90 fee, you get the basic package, which includes one IV bag containing fluids, vitamins, the anti-nausea drug Ondansetron, and the anti-inflammatory drug Ketorolac. A premium package starts at $150, which gets you two bags. For an additional fee, medical personnel from the bus will treat you in your hotel room.

Critics question whether the hangover bus treatment is safe. They point out that some of these drugs have side effects, and the hangover bus may not be equipped to handle a bad reaction. A patient could be allergic to the medications or fail to report their entire medical history. Ketorolac can affect the kidneys, and Ondansetron can trigger abnormal heart rhythm. There could also be complications for people with esophageal or stomach ailments from chronic alcohol abuse.

Others question the wisdom of a “quick cure” for a hangover. Hangovers are nature’s way of telling you to slow down. Without the physical consequences, people may be tempted to over-drink. To some, offering a quick hangover cure is a violation of medical ethics.

Burke claims he doesn’t treat anyone who is visibly intoxicated or who has a complicated medical history. He believes these safeguards will keep the risk of complications low. He also says that he uses small amounts of the drugs and takes a full medical history before treatment. Burk also points out that they are equipped with a hospital “crash cart” and he is fully qualified to use it in case of emergency.

Hangover Heaven claims that the hangover bus treatment has a 95% success rate in returning patients to normal in 45 minutes.  In the short time that the hangover bus has been open for business, its popularity has skyrocketed. At this rate, it won’t be long until Hangover Heaven becomes the new Sin City hot spot!
